• They use their hands to make actions and show me rather than using words

• They use the wrong word

How can I help?

Top tips

• Talk about what you / they are doing e.g. ‘we are going to the park’, ‘let’s cook dinner’

• Show your child items as you talk about them e.g. ‘teddy’, ‘teddy is eating’

• If you are not sure what your child means, find out. Can they show you? Can you offer them a choice? Can they describe what we use it for, where we find it or what it looks like?
